Vaccinations for Seasonal Flu

Our clinics offer flu vaccines that help to prevent outbreaks of influenza. We encourage our patients to get their flu vaccines at least twice a year.

What is the Flu?

Influenza or flu is one of the most contagious respiratory diseases in the world. You may have heard the term “flu season” before – while people can contract flu any time of the year, winter and early spring is when the majority of cases arise. It’s recommended to get a flu shot before the flu season begins so your chances of falling ill are reduced.

Flu Symptoms

But if you didn’t get a flu shot, and you think you have been infected, you may experience the following flu symptoms:

  • Sore throat
  • Body chills
  • Runny nose
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Body aches

Flu Testing

At Exer Urgent Care, we have different kinds of rapid flu tests to detect the presence of flu. These tests also help determine what type of influenza virus is responsible for your flu: Virus A or Virus B. Samples are usually taken from your nostrils and results and rapid results are provided within just 10-15 minutes.

Flu symptoms are pretty similar to other illnesses, including the common cold. In order to receive the necessary flu treatment, it’s necessary to conduct the test and confirm that it’s indeed influenza and not anything else.
